Sell Collectibles on eBay And Profit Every Time

Every month eBay supplies a hot products list showing the most popular sellers in all main product categories.  It's produced from an American perspective but I've found the results work equally well in the UK.  And besides, if something's worth selling it's worth selling worldwide and you can choose any eBay site to list  your goods.. 

The reality is, offer something really hot in a popular eBay collectibles category and you’ll always make money.  Really hot eBay categories for me are: Bonzo Dog, Masonic Collectibles, Vintage Dog Art, Topographical Real Photographic Postcards.

Everything I know about those items is stored in my memory to surface and serve me well on buying expeditions at boot sales, flea markets, auctions.

But let’s say I want to make more money by adding other hot selling collectibles to my eBay listing repertoire, how would I do that?

There is just one answer: I’d study eBay, either manually by checking current and ended auctions for high finishing price products with multiple bidders, or by consulting eBay’s Hot Items Report which you can download at:

Let us look at this month's report (January 2006) and study the last few months' hottest collectibles in a little more detail.  Some I'll avoid from the list, because they are too seasonal, such as Christmas decorations for example which sold a treat last month, and Valentine's Day gifts which are also gaining momentum as purely short term best sellers.

These items feature high in the current and eBay’s most recent Hot Item Reports.

Hot products are listed by category and sub-category, sometimes through several categories in a really popular niche.  Some categories feature several times in the hotlist making these the most important of all to focus on.

Currently 'Rocks, Fossils, Minerals' feature three times in the top 12 hottest collectibles and three times more in the remainder of the list.  Also high on the list and featuring several times are Decorative Collectibles, Historical Memorabilia, Militaria, Tobacciana, Comics (not always paper comics but including figurines, original comic art, and other).
